I use Python most frequently for ETL activities in the BI domain space. For example, fetching information from SQL Server and outputting it to Microsoft Excel; or, calling the Tableau Server and Google Analytics APIs, manipulating the data, and outputting it to SQL Server and Excel. More recently, however, I’ve used Django built a RESTful API and web application.
Coming from a background in Java, most of my programs are object-oriented, but I do have some experience with functional programming in Python. My IDEs of choice are Pycharm and VS Code. I use Github and Team Foundation Server for source control. Lastly, I have experience with virtualenv and Docker for environment management.

I have worked with and administered relational database servers professionally for quite some time. I have the most experience with SQL Server for OLAP activities, but I’ll work with PostgreSQL and design transactional schemas from time to time.
Importantly, my professional experience has been exclusively with ‘big data’ stored in highly relational and complex schemas. As a result, I tend to focus heavily on writing performant and dynamic SQL.

I’ve worked as a Tableau Server administrator (server level, 8 core cluster) for over 4 years. I have overseen the implementation of multiple upgrades, and personally administered multiple customizations and ‘hacks’ to the server’s CSS files.
From a Tableau Desktop perspective, I am a proficient developer, and I enjoy leveraging Tableau’s REST and JavaScript APIs to extend dashboard functionality and automate common business intelligence tasks.
